Alexa Brussels has spent the past ten years building a name for herself in one of the biggest tech companies in the world. Having worked hard, through Christmas, birthdays, and everything in between, the new merger is exactly what Alexa needs to finally get that promotion.

But when a snowstorm derails her from flying to the city to take care of her sister’s belongings, nothing goes according to plan. Alexa is now stuck in the Belleyare ski resort in the Catskills, with no way back, and a blackmailer breathing down her neck threatening to undermine everything she’s worked hard to accomplish.

Josh Fletcher spends most of his time working and trying to re-connect with his daughter. Since the death of his late wife a couple of years back, he and Molly have not been able to see eye to eye on things, especially in the events leading up to his wife’s demise.

All he wants is to feel close to his daughter again.

With their paths crossing frequently and life tugging them in opposite directions, neither Alexa nor Josh knows what to do with their newfound connection. As they fight their feelings for each other and struggle to deny the truth, the only thing on either of their minds is why.

Why would fate bring them back together again after all this time?

And will Alexa end up needing Josh and Molly as much as they need her?

This is book three of the Christmas series, a warm, cozy, and festive drama full of adventure, hope, heart and brimming with the spirit and magic of the holidays, and what it means to find second chances and recapture the glory, magic, and innocence of Christmas. It unfolds in the picturesque and serene town of Catskills.

For the past decade, Alexa Brussels has dedicated herself to rising through the ranks at one of the world’s leading tech companies. After countless hours of hard work—sacrificing Christmases, birthdays, and more—the upcoming merger feels like the perfect opportunity for Alexa to secure the promotion she’s been striving for.

Chapter 1
Alexa

“Our profit margins are much better than we initially predicted,” Alexa paused and pointed the clicker at the screen on the wall. The projector made a low humming sound and moved onto another slide. “As you can see by the numbers, news of the merger is already having a positive impact on the company’s image.”
Several of the people gathered around the table nodded.
Alexa smiled. “Moving forward with the merger is expected to yield even higher profit margins. And the survey results are in— people have shown ten percent more interest in buying our products since news of the merger leaked.”
A murmur of approval rose through the room.
With a smile still in place, Alexa stepped forward and made a sweeping hand gesture. “Some restructuring will be necessary to ensure the transition is as smooth as possible, but we’re already in the final stages of negotiation.”
The general manager, Brendon Montgomery, a short man with salt-and-pepper hair and dark-brown eyes, sat up straighter and linked his fingers. “This is all excellent news, Alexa. Well done.”
Alexa flushed and glanced around the room at the rest of the people in attendance. Then she switched off the projector and walked to the back of the room. Once she flipped the lights back on, it took a minute for her eyes to adjust to the brightness. She didn’t falter as she reached for the files she’d prepared and handed them out. One by one, everyone sat up and flipped their files open.
Considering she’d been up most of the night putting the finishing touches on the details, she was relieved it was going so well. A part of Alexa could hardly believe her good luck when the manager had assigned her to the project, but the other part of her hadn’t slept. It had been weeks since Mr. Montgomery called her into his office to deliver the good news between harried phone calls and a series of clipped orders.
Since then, Alexa didn’t think she’d gotten a full night’s sleep.
Truthfully, she was fairly certain she was operating on adrenaline and pure determination. Over the past few weeks, Alexa had thrown herself into the project wholeheartedly, attending several long meetings with the company they were acquiring and staying at the office late into the night when everyone else was already long gone.
She prayed it would all be worth it.
Because she needed this deal to go through.
Working for Solaris, one of the biggest tech companies in the world, had been a dream of hers since high school. As one of the pioneers of renewable and sustainable energy in the field, she had known Solaris was the place to be since she was fourteen. All through high school, she’d sweated and toiled to get an internship, and since then, she hadn’t looked back. Even a brief stint in the marketing department that nearly had her pulling her own hair out hadn’t deterred her. Not after she realized how good she was at sales.
Being in the sales department was challenging, and it was nothing at all like she thought it would be, but it was one of the best decisions she’d ever made. And as a junior salesperson, she couldn’t have imagined being handed such a big account, not even in her wildest dreams.
With the head of her department on maternity leave, Alexa led the sales team on an interim basis. But she hoped that by closing the deal on the new merger, she’d maintain her position. After all, she’d fought and sweated, scraped and clawed her way to where she was.
Mr. Montgmery had to be able to see that after all of this time.
All she had to do was make sure that both sides stayed happy until the deal was complete.
Alexa hadn’t given up any semblance of social life and most of her twenties just to be derailed by a deal going sideways. On the contrary, she’d given up too much already to imagine any other outcome, and the mere thought of failing made her wake up in the dead of night in a cold sweat. Even now, as the heads of departments sat around the circular table in the middle of the airy and spacious conference room, flipping through her files, she couldn’t help the pinpricks of anxiety racing through her.
